Allow me to explain myself
In the post below, you will find the unthinkable... I dedicated my past few days to nerding out and creating a podcast. In case you don't know what that is, it's this new feature available on iTunes (it's been available awhile on places like iPodder) which is, essentially, a form of playing already-taped radio shows.
To "subscribe" to these podcasts, you first must have the newest version of iTunes (4.9), and then you can either browse the more popular podcasts found in the iTunes Music Store (the Al Franken show is one of my faves) or enter in the "feed" URL of a podcast host you found somewhere online. To subscribe to a feed address you found online, go to "Advanced" on the toolbar of iTunes, then click "Subscribe to Podcast." My feed is feeds.feedburner.com/KGOORadio. Paste that into the text area, hit OK and you're in hellaz mad biz-nass. Also, if you'd rather just stream the latest episode, all you need to do is use Windows Media Player--go to File/Open URL and then put in the .mp3 address (see below).
So why the hell would someone want a podcast on their iPod/iTunes? Well, for one, your local radio waves simply can't match up to the selection available of online broadcasts. Another obvious reason would be that if you missed the latest episode of your favorite radio show--I can see podcasting becoming the norm in the next year for shows like Howard Stern, Bob and Tom, etc.
In my case, the main reason I started to do it was because I think it'll be a good way to keep up to speed with my chums once I go to college. There's no cure for boredom like hearing my graceful Midwestern drawl through your headphones, so hopefully I can make it a routine every week/two weeks. The format of my show will be essentially applying all the songs I play into a stupid theme. This week's theme is "Classic Album Openers" to kick off the KGOO inauguration--if you have any suggestions for the coming weeks' themes, I am more than open to them.
